York Model Railway Museum

The York Model Railway Museum is situated next to York Station within the Tea Room Square and lays claim to being the York's Biggest Smallest attraction taking 10,000 hours to build. It's certainly a delight for the youngsters and rail enthusiast, and boast a quarter of a million visitors.
For such a small attraction , the likes of the Intercity 125, the Royal Train and the Orient Express travel along 320 metres of track with up to 14 different miniature trains running every day. They run through a interactive Bavarian landscape with a thousand miniature trees and bushes, over three hundred cars and tiny people. Day turns into night every 3 minutes to give you the full effect and the kids can play with the Thomas the Tank Engine display.
The York Model Railway Museum is open all year round except Christmas eve and Christmas day. Nov-Feb 10.30am-5pm and Mar-Oct 9.30am-6pm with last admission half an hour before closing time.
